Colleen Markley

Colleen Markley is a novelist, blogger, and freelance writer living in New Jersey.

On June 1, 2021, The Erma Bombeck Writers Workshop named her the Humor Writer of the Month. Colleen is one of 21 winners of Nickie’s Prize for Humor Writing. The winning essays — along with contributions from many well-known writers — will be included in an anthology to be published later this year. Colleen’s sister is really excited to know what she’s getting for her birthday already.

Colleen’s current novel-in-progress, Lilith Land, is a story about a pandemic virus and the end of the world where only the women survive. (It’s a novel, not an action plan). Colleen also writes short pieces offering a comedic and thoughtful look at life around us.

A graduate of Boston University, Colleen studied screenwriting for film and television. She is the recipient of the Boston University Screenwriting Achievement Award, as well as the “Blue Chip Award,” the most prestigious honor offered by the College of Communication at B.U.

Colleen is a proud alum of Thirteen/WNET, the public television station in New York City. She lives with her husband, who is an attorney and loves her notwithstanding all of her idiosyncrasies, and her adorable teenagers, who are already rolling their eyes wondering what mom is going to say next.
